Monotypes

this Collection
Monotypes are original works of art printed on paper. It is a type of printmaking made by drawing or painting on a smooth, non-absorbent surface. The surface I use is a copper etching plate. The image is then transferred onto a sheet of paper by pressing the two together using a etching press. The inks used may be oil or water based. Known as the most painterly method among print making techniques, monotypes are essentially printed paintings.
